Welcome to this new episode. Today we're going to talk about what are we going to talk about today? Adel period and cold exposure. [music] A very bamic topic to be honest. I think um how would I would like to start by how do you feel talking about this? Well, um yeah, to be honest, I think u we both came here um feeling a bit

2:00

I think in many cases that's what we forget that we just take um information for granted and we take it as absolute truth and in reality uh because everybody and we were so happy when we found this line earlier on while preparing for this podcast. So let me repeat that. [laughter] So everybody and every body is different and unique. Um we believe it's so important that you

4:00

different parts of our cycle period is just one part of it you know but the cycle it's almost going it's ongoing all the time absolutely it's part of our nature so we really feel that there is no reason for this to be approached as a taboo or something that uh that should should be ignored or restrictive. Yeah. Under the carpet because um it is

6:00

it really helps me to to just stick with the cold and smoothen out the roller coaster. And for me, cold exposure can mean cold showers or cold plunges um outdoors. Gold plunges are my favorite. Um especially in natural water. And I just feel into how much gold my body can take. So if I feel up for it, then I would um yeah, merge myself outdoors exactly the same way as I do any other day of the month. And if

8:00

still practicing the method. It's it's not pushing. It's not forcing. It's actually the method it's all about going within and and really feeling misunderstanding like you said. Absolutely. So, um I really liked what you mentioned. Yeah, I really loved what you said and you were also telling me like for example how you um uh enjoy also like your warm showers.

10:00

which I've gone in every single day and I can tell that literally um and that that's that takes me to the next topic which is the breathing and and the mind. Usually during those days when I did my breathing if I had any symptoms symptoms which I rarely have but sometimes I did the breathing already took them out. So when I finished my breathing session, I was really ready to go and I wanted to go to the ice bath.

sensors sensors will turn tune down. So you will not f feel the pain as much as you did before getting into the cold. And another thing that I I like to keep in mind when um when I'm on my period is that um cold increases increases blood circulation and the period naturally detoxifies the body. Mhm. So if I put myself into the cold and I

14:00

mind to it and you really understand that this is a natural process of your body you see it in a completely different way you know and it's like uh sometimes I don't know I'm not there yet and I cannot relate to that but sometimes there are certain women that still don't accept this part of themselves. Maybe it rings a bell or not like no no for me

16:00

have only found when I started connecting with the cold. And before I forget, just on the on in relation to the studies, there is also a study about women with endometriosis on the official Vimhof method website. So if you're one of th those women who struggle with um with this really painful state then I highly recommend you just reading up on that and u maybe entertaining the thought to make the first steps towards

18:00

the cold exposure, you know, to help me keep my own rhythm. And by rhythm, I mean my own hormonal fluctuation as everybody is everybody. [laughter] And for my body to help it maintain that and so then I'm better at the rest. So I I see it as a very very powerful practice to really help us regulate. And did you know that women experience more stress than men? I'm not surprised. [laughter] I that's

20:00

and emotional spiritual level. Definitely. It like it kind of like I was going to say something and I forgot [laughter] before we closed but that may be a sign that [laughter] we have ticked all the boxes. No, you were talking about um yeah, how you go in the world your the days you don't do your practice inner connection. Well,

22:00

might be different. So feel your body and um improvements for us it has helped us a lot with the general symptoms of the period and the mental part and it's amazing to feel like a superwoman uh even during the days when I know a lot of other women struggle. It's just a feeling. It's powerful. Yeah. I like what she said. Thank you so

Key Insights

Hormonal fluctuations affect cold tolerance across cycle phases

Follicular phase: higher tolerance, easier adaptation

Luteal phase: may need warmer temperatures or shorter duration

Individual variation significant—track your own response

"The body adapts to what you consistently demand of it—controlled stress builds resilience when applied deliberately."
