In your new biz, which is cooking with gas right now. This place is rocking it. We're trying. I see you guys all over social media. Yeah. And so you guys are doing a really good job marketing. So, I've been here, but I haven't really done the full thing yet. So, I'm kind of excited to check out the full experience of Soulfire. How long you guys been open? Uh, a little over two months. Feels like way longer, but you've only been open 2 months, I think. So, March 26, I think, was our opening [music] day. Yep. It feels like you've been open a lot longer just cuz the buildout was so meticulous and you handpicked everything in here and you made sure it was just like exactly how you wanted it. So, it's funny to hear it was only it's only been open 2 months. It feels like it's been open for like 2 years already. So, yeah. Well, that's good, right? That is [laughter] good. Sandwich. Yeah. Um, let's do the tour here. Let's Let's check this place out. All right. First of all, I've What is this? [laughter] What is this? Screaming man. Is this the Christian Bale from American Psycho? No. I've heard a lot of guesses as to who this is. But you're my people if you know who it is. Does anybody here know? Not a clue. Are you serious? That's not Baby Billy. That's not Oh my god, that's a great guest. Yeah, it kind of looks like baby Billy. It looks like baby Billy. Yes, it does. Bible bunkers. Bible bonkers. Baby Billy's Bible

1:33

Bible bonkers. Baby Billy's Bible bunkers. Baby Billy Billy. Bible bunkers bunker. Baby Bible bunkers. Well, now I actually like it better because I'm going to see that. Who is this? So, if you've heard of the band Cleo, that is my favorite band. So, I just felt like obviously love the music and I kind of is the feeling you get after you leave here. So, and I wanted a little shock factor when you walk in that were different and we're Dude, isn't it crazy how many businesses you go into and you just look and you're like, hang up a picture or it's just like, you know, paint on a canvas, which nothing wrong with that, but I wanted something something. Okay. However, where's Thomas? Because I've had a lot of people think, "Here he is. Go stand by it." Wait a minute. It is you. You just got a haircut. It's not me. [laughter] Coincidentally, come on. Give us a screen. Give us THE [laughter] But no, it is not Thomas. What do we What are we sitting on here? Uh, so we have a lot of different caffeinated drinks. Um, cool boxed water. I know how you like that cuz we don't want our plastic in. We got to be careful. I'm going to get going on a tangent on that. I think Why don't more places sell water in the container? The old school milk container. Yep. Kind of like elementary school when you got the I I swear it might all be in my head, but whenever I drink one of these, I'm

3:04

but whenever I drink one of these, I'm like, "This just tastes healthier." And maybe it is. Well, I know it is. It doesn't have any plastic in it. Yeah. Okay. Why don't you grab some of the shots on the bottom? Those are fun. Oo, we'll do some shots. Got different health shots that everybody kind of That's probably the favorite. What's the favorite color that people like the most? You got blue or red? Oh, how about you take one on the left? Oh, we'll grab a slow mover shot and then you got to shake them up cuz everything's natural in here. I'll do that. Do a shot. We got to Jake, you want to do a shot? Oh gosh. I was going to say for a clip, this is where you play the uh some shots. Yeah. Somebody get on the music for us. Okay. So this is a immunity pure elixir. This is legit here. What is it? What does it do? So that one has ginger, lemon, cayenne, which is what's going to give Oh, it's going to give me a little Rick flare. It's going to give me a little Woo. Okay. So you got the beauty one. It has collagen powder in it. You want me to open that for you? Let me open that for you. That's what I did. Schedule the dentist after this. There we go. Damn. And we're just talking about plastic. Jake just scraped a bunch off in his teeth. Yeah, just like real shots. It takes me like three to get these down, but Okay. Cheers. All right. Here's to soulfire. So, see, I'm like, that's not like a IT'S NOT NECESSARILY A WOO. IT'S IT'S MORE A woo woo. Yeah.

4:35

WOO. IT'S IT'S MORE A woo woo. Yeah. And that'll stick with you. These are my hydrosols. My dad loves hydra salts and these taste very similar to those. It's delicious. Very natural stuff grown from the ground. Okay. He steals it himself. This is It tastes healthy. You got to bring some of that, dude. I needed that. Yeah, you're going to be a little toasty. Oh, that was great. I think your eyes are watering. Yeah. No kidding. I'm not trying to sell these, but like you need to get some of these. Yeah, I like those. Wow. Trash. I don't know what it's going to do to me, but I'm I can't wait for it to do already. You're not going to get sick. Hopefully that bottle wasn't like a hundred servings. Like like a little little teaspoon is like a serving. You drink [laughter] the whole thing. I can't see. Bathroom's that way. All right. What's next? You want me to get in there and you can talk me through it? Sure. Yeah. Sure. Okay. Let's do it. So, you've got your little protective eyewear there. Unmasking. Yes. Yeah. Cue the uh the' 90s music. Okay. I'll let you get in there. Okay. So, if you were actually here doing an appointment, you can just come over here and press the button to get it started. Okay. Um, so 20 minute sessions. Are you nice? Who's the tall drink of water? Who was in here before? Okay. So, you're going to pull it down as close as you're comfortable with because with red light, you want it if you can do within 2 in of your body, that's ideal. You guys want to hand me my mic? I can

6:05

You guys want to hand me my mic? I can set it by sitting there on the table. [laughter] I've never been in here while someone does this. Okay, so I've got the vibration frequency on which is probably my favorite part of this. Yeah. So the uh Can you feel it yet? Yeah. For context, the bottom of the uh the bottom of the bed is like vibrating. Yeah. So it's a kind of a sporadic goes up and down the whole bottom of the bed. But that way it makes it a relaxing 20 minutes. By the time you're almost done, those last five minutes, I've had people fall asleep in here. So, yeah, cuz it's not like shaking you. It's just a really subtle Yes. uh vibration underneath the like the glass, the plexiglass. And so, it's it just it's almost like it's a hard sensation to describe. It [laughter] is. It really is. Yeah. And it's not constant. It kind of comes and goes, moves up the bed, down the bed. But I can see how this would make you fall asleep. Yeah. Well, in the second 10 minutes, it does start to get a little warmer because it does have near infrared in it, which has some warmth to it. Um, so you're not only getting red light, you're getting near infrared. But when that warms up, it's kind of like a tanning bed. You're not going to sweat, but it's just that subtle warmth. How long do people sit in these? Um, so ours you can do 10, 15 or 20 minutes. Almost everybody does 20 because it's so relaxing. Uh, yeah. And there is I mean

7:36

Uh, yeah. And there is I mean without getting too much into the weeds, there is a bazillion health benefits to this red light therapy. Yes, for sure. Um, a simple way to describe it without getting too scientific is it's like a battery charger for every cell in your body. So it's no bad rays, all good rays. It's amazing and the experience is good, too. I have one of the panels at home and that to me gets a little boring. You know, it's good for you. We've all heard all the facts, but it's like you're just standing there. Whereas this is a 20 minutes of like, wow, I feel so good. I'm relaxed. Kind of get away from everything and leave feeling better. Y Oh, thank you. And now here we've got like a its own separate little coal plunge right here. Yes. So, this would be a room. Um, this is room three, room two right there. So, you would get this if Joe Brayer was a member or booked a one-timer. You get this whole space for an hour. So, it's kind of like your own little wellness area to pick and choose what you want. We have people that only like sauna that will just come use the sauna for an hour. Some people use absolutely everything in here. So, we've just got it all if you want it. Private cold plunge. Yes. Yep. So, it's always just you and your space. You would never have, you know, anyone else coming in here unless you add guests. So, if you wanted to come and bring your wife or bring a couple buddies, you can do that and add on up to four people in here. Cool. Oh, so you can just Yeah, you can

9:06

Cool. Oh, so you can just Yeah, you can bring a group. So, yeah, cuz these saunas are good size, so people can kind of be alternating. Yeah. All right. So, this one we've got our fancy aine bike. Where the heck did you get that from? Your friendly neighborhood treadmill here on Do you want to show us how you do it? Uh, sure. Yeah. Uh, not from longer than 30 seconds cuz uh in slides this this thing will Yeah. Do you recommend wearing slides when you do this? [laughter] Yeah. And whoever left these at my house like three summers ago. Thank you. Uh they've been my go-to slides ever since. Um but yeah, this is unlike a typical clanky air dye. Look at that. Nice and smooth and quiet from your uh friends over at Treadmill Heroes, courtesy of True Fitness. Thank you, True Fitness uh for providing. And this is a great way to break the sweat. They Yes. They say sometimes it's a good idea, right? Break the sweat before you get in the sauna. Yep. So, we get a lot of people that with infrared, it's not that crazy oppressive 200 ° heat. It's more in the 150s, which you will definitely sweat. But we get some people that are like, we've even had wrestlers, fighters that need to cut weight or just anybody that wants to break a sweat the second you walk in. Do this for two minutes and your heart rate's up and you're sweating the second you open that door. So that's kind of why that's here. And then over here we've got the vibration plate. Got the power plate, which I'll be honest, I thought these were hokey before I tried one and now

10:37

were hokey before I tried one and now it's one of my favorite things. Not to bore you with fitness equipment history, okay? Right, but when these came out in like the early 2000s, I was selling fitness equipment for a company. And we were one of the first dealers in the country of these things. And so we had to learn how to sell this thing. And you know, so one of the things you do is like like a horse stance here. I'll do it. I'll let you. So, like you if you do a horse stance like this uh in this position, this thing's how many [clears throat] like it's vibrating like a bazillion times. I was going to point that out cuz you see a lot of them online where people are literally jiggling like crazy. So, it's making these are such a high frequency that you're not even seeing that because it is vibrating that intensely. Yeah. and and you're it's it's activating your fast twitch muscle fibers which basically instead of like a full contraction, imagine during that contraction they're your muscles are tightening and loosening at the same time. So yeah, this thing uh this thing will rock you and you can get into like a static push-up position blah. Yeah. So you can exercise on it. A lot of people will stretch on them because you're just activating more of that muscle with the frequency going. I like it because it just gets your circulation going. So like in the morning, I'm not a morning person, so I'll get on there and kind of look at my day on my phone and just get the blood flowing to your brain. You just wake up faster. My legs feel lighter after I get off those. It's

12:08

feel lighter after I get off those. It's amazing. And there's, trust me, I know there's really no places around the Quad Cities where you can just walk in and enjoy using a a power plate cuz you you could kill 20 minutes on this if you really want to. You could. I like to do like five or 10. Um, and a lot of people like to do them combined with the sauna because you get the lymphatic drainage benefits. So, that's very popular to have the two together. This whole setup and this there's nothing like this. Like there's nothing like this kind of setup where you can do cardio, some strength, some circulatory stuff, sauna, cold plunge. Uh, let me look inside of here. So, you can open both. Oh, that's freaking cool. [laughter] Uh, I've never seen the the corner one like that, which by the way, Treadmill Heroes sells saunas. Uh, it's worth noting, but uh, this corner one's really cool. And Thomas is going to give us a tour of one of these, isn't he? Is he nearby? Should we do sauna first or cold plunge first? You're just at the call of height, manager. Thomas, should we get sweaty? Okay. Do I need to go back? Yeah, just All right. So, how's this freaking thing work? So, you got Bluetooth. You can connect your own phone, play your own music. We also got the YouTube, YouTube TV, watch a live game, watch highlights, whatever you need to catch up on. Then you got Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, and Paramount as well. So, you can really watch whatever you want. Freaking sweet, dude. And [snorts] you you can do Yeah. Go

13:38

And [snorts] you you can do Yeah. Go ahead and play like like play some tunes, right? You can do that. Yeah. Do you have your phone in here? Oh, you So, it's Is it easy to sync your phone to it? Yeah, it is. We could actually maybe even show them that. Yeah. So, you can connect like your Bluetooth. So, you can watch Netflix on here. You can do the whole thing. Yes, sir. So, it's basically just an easy uh screen mirror. It's basically like an iPad in here. Yeah. Got your own iPad with the sauna. Uh how many people typically will sit in here? Like comfortably? I'd say two. Yeah. I like this. You Yeah, you can really stretch out in here. Yeah. You can fit three or four though if you really wanted to. And so we've got the red light on. And you can change the colors of this thing too. Yeah. So these up here you can change the colors of. So say orange for the next blue. If you wanted more red lighting, go red. I kind of like the white. This what my mom likes. So she can read her book in here. Oh yeah. So even turn them completely off. You still get the red lights from the the panels. How often are you sitting in this thing? Are you do you sit in the sauna a lot? Yeah, I'd say every other day. Really? Average. That's freaking awesome. About 30 minutes in the sauna. Be a cool gig. Yeah, I'm not much of a cold plunger, but you'll you'll just utilize the sauna while working here, man. That's that would be I I would imagine there'd be a lot of people that would want to work here just to be able to I mean, the amenities that are in here are pretty if you're uh if you're into just staying healthy.

15:09

healthy. All right, so this room basically the same. does not have the bike in here. Uh, but this is one of the favorite rooms. I don't know why, but a lot of people like to put I didn't know you had a second power plate. So, yeah, we've got the power plate in each room. Same size sauna. All of our saunas, it's worth mentioning, are full spectrum with red light. Same thing. Get this space for an hour. Alternate. I like to do like three rounds. I don't know if you and Thomas talked about that, but we didn't talk about the No, tell me about like Yeah, that's where you get the contrast therapy. So, I like to start in here for like 10 to 15 minutes, then cold plunge and do like two or three rounds of that because the first time in the plunge is super shocking for some reason. Second time is like so much easier. You numb up a little bit, I guess. I only wish we knew somebody we could shock. I really wish we knew if we had a Jake Trumper here that we could shock into getting into the cold plunge to be shot. Oh boy. In this one together and I could share one. Oh, there you go. Joe already shared a sauna. The uh the tighter we hold to each other, the better we'll be. Yeah. Oh god. So, let's get the side by side ones. You guys would like those. This is our group room, which is I think the perfect amount of people is like four to five. We do big parties in here, too, though. Um, these are both massage chairs. And don't be fooled cuz they look a little fancy and bougie like they're not going to work, but they are

16:40

they're not going to work, but they are amazing. They're awesome setting for you. Oh, perfect. [laughter] We're going to rubsy Jake here. [laughter] Jake's just Jake's can't can't relax. He's get going into panic mode right now on the cold plunge. It's actually very therapeutic. Jake, I'm going to excited. Hey, what do we got here, Emily? So, we've got the side by side cold plunges, which people love because I can tell you from experience, it is so much easier to cold plunge with other people. Even if you're not competitive, it's just that little bit of added pressure to stay in a little bit longer because once you get beyond 1 minute in here, it's like everything gets easier. But getting to 1 minute is not easy. So when someone's next to you doing it, it's also kind of a cool bonding experience. I'll be honest, coming as a couple or with a friend, you know, kind of fun. You're we're going to bond. You can hold hands if you would like. I have an idea. I want to do one with Jake and then maybe we can walk through it and then I'll go do a a set in the sauna. Okay. And then maybe I can talk you into doing one with me. Okay. You want to do one with me after we uh treat Jake? All right. Then I can warm up. I can warm up quickly. So I got TO GO IN COLD. YOU JUST JOIN me in the song [laughter] if you want. Oh boy. Shallow breath. Just endure. Accept it.

18:10

Accept it. You're taking a long walk for a short answer. [laughter] Right, Emily? Just accept. All right, let's do it. Yeah, just don't hold your breath. I like to breathe in for four, out for four. Oh, see Jake. See Jill? Get all the way in there. It is much harder in here. I like to go here. Remember your training, Jake. Remember your training. What's my training? Breathe in your fears, Jake. What's that a [laughter] reference to? Batman, right? Breathe in your fears. Remember when he they mash up the blue flower in Batman Begins? Is that Oh yeah. You're goingofy. You're the biggest comic nerd out there. When Batman the Christian Veil one. Yeah. Where Rosal Ghoul. Rozal Ghoul. There's not actually Rozal Ghoul. I have no idea. So this this is the part where your tips start to tingle. Yep. Your fingertips tingle. Your toes. Don't p don't accept it. Let's keep talking about Batman. Yeah. And how how uh Rosal Ghoul's daughter ended up betraying him at the end with Bane in the third movie. Okay, we we're at 12 seconds. That is We are more than 12 seconds. We've only been in for 15 seconds, haven't we, Emily? How long have we been in? Question. It's only been 15 seconds.

19:40

It's only been 15 seconds. No, it has not. Jake's out in 10 seconds, by the way. 10 9 8 You got this, Jake is out of here. [groaning] Finally, you're coming in next and we're going to cut a great promo for Soulfire here. Dude, makes your fingertips burn. It does. That was the old like when my toes were I was like, [laughter] I'm a badass. Let's do the dip. Do it cold. WE'LL DO IT LIVE. IT. DO IT LIVE. HEY EVERYBODY, Joe with the Real Quad Cities and this is Soulfire I don't get in like that. Oh, sauna would feel good right about now. Sauna would be amazing right now. Or red light bed. Anything but this. But I would be on the fan bike right now. That would be pretty cool. Stair stepper would feel good. Oh, the HG stepper from Stairmaster, courtesy of your friends at Treadmill Heroes. Oh, I could be on the power plate. Helping my circulation. I would take anything other than this. And that um that ginger snap uh shot you gave me with that health stuff. That was great from that. Uh that has long been off my mind [laughter] since I've been in the cold water. Guys, you got to check this place out. Everybody knows cold plunging and saunas and red light therapy are super happy and healthy for you. Come in and see

21:12

and healthy for you. Come in and see Emily Perkins. She's freaking awesome. And she has built one heck of a facility here right here in the Quad Cities. Emily, you should be really proud of this place. Thank you. And uh you know what I'd love to do? Get the heck out of this thing and go sit bes. What do you say? Uh yes, please. All right. [laughter] Really good. We do a little thigh action here. [laughter]

The Studio Shapes the State

A good contrast environment does part of the work before the first session begins. Clean design, clear flow, and calm guidance help the nervous system understand what is coming. That matters for beginners. When the space feels ordered, the body can meet intensity with less resistance.

Heat Opens the System

The sauna phase is a slow invitation. Circulation rises, muscles soften, and breathing begins to settle. Heat gives the body time to open. For many first-time guests, this is where the ritual becomes less intimidating and more intentional.

Cold Makes the Signal Obvious

The cold plunge is immediate. The body reacts before the mind has a speech prepared. Breath becomes the anchor. Staying present for even a short immersion teaches a useful skill: intensity can arrive without becoming panic. That lesson often lasts longer than the cold itself.

Contrast Is a Practice, Not a Stunt

The video captures the social, local-business version of contrast therapy. That accessibility is valuable. The ritual does not need to be extreme to be effective. A thoughtful session moves from heat to cold to recovery with enough space to notice how the body responds.

Words Worth Hearing

The first contrast session teaches the body that intensity and calm can exist in the same room.

Practical Takeaways

  1. Start with a guided environment if you are new. Clear instructions reduce unnecessary stress.

  2. Use breath as the first tool in the cold plunge. Control the exhale before chasing duration.

  3. Leave time after the session. The return to calm is part of the practice.
